From the Golden Age of “light” classical and popular music comes the Grand Salon Orchestra, performing tunes that everybody knew and loved in the early 1900s. Every grand hotel in the major world cities had its own Salon orchestra, to entertain their guests while they socialized and danced in the Palm Courts and Grand Salons. The music of the time was closely tied to popular dance steps – the Tango, the Foxtrot, Waltzes, Charlestons, Two-Steps and more, and was composed by many of the best-known composers such as Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Johann Strauss, and Irving Berlin. The Brantford Symphony Salon Orchestra takes you back to a time of exquisite melodies and toe-tapping rhythms, when Ballroom dancing was something everybody enjoyed. To add to your magical evening out, local Ballroom dance specialists Brian and Kelly Sloat will enchant you with their dance artistry as they bring to life the music the Orchestra has carefully chosen for you!
