Conductor Bio: Dr. François Koh

Dr. François Koh is an award-winning conductor and classical guitarist whose leadership has been praised by Jonathan Crow, Concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, as “inspirational for the orchestra,” noting his unique ability to elevate musicians of all levels. A winner of the 2023 International Conductors Workshop and Competition (Atlanta) and a Heinz Unger Conducting Award nominee, Dr. Koh has led acclaimed performances with the Savaria Symphony (Hungary), Filarmonica de Stat Târgu Mureș (Romania), and Ensemble Dal Niente (USA). Dr. Koh holds a Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree from McGill University. From 2015 to 2022, he served as Music Director of the Georgian Bay Symphony, where his visionary programming earned the Ontario Arts Council’s Vida Peene Orchestra Award for excellence. Currently, Dr. Koh is the Founder and Artistic Director of Salon de Musique Canada, a chamber concert series project group that unites classical tradition with popular music reimagined in a refined classical style. A passionate advocate for contemporary and Indigenous-inspired music, his artistic mission is to bridge cultures and generations, fostering inclusivity and inspiration through every performance.
