Featuring pianist Bryn Blackwood
Your concert season begins with a full and satisfying classical orchestra experience. There is a Piano Concerto, performed by an exciting young soloist originally from Simcoe! Bryn Blackwood will keep you mesmerized as he brings French composer Camille Saint-Saëns’ popular Second Concerto to life. Saint-Saëns wrote this piece in only three weeks, at the end of which he performed its Premiere (nobody else would have had time to learn it!). There is a Symphony. Felix Mendelssohn’s Third Symphony was inspired while Mendelssohn was vacationing in Scotland, and has always been Standard Repertoire for all orchestras, and for their audiences. From a dark and brooding opening to a majestic and joyful ending, the symphony is filled with charms and moods that will draw you in and keep you there until the last triumphant chord! And the evening begins with a light and sparkling Overture, “La Scala di Seta” or “The Silken Ladder” by the king of effervescence, Giacomo Rossini. The overture is guaranteed to brush away the worries of the day gone by, and get you ready to relax into a wonderful experience of some of the finest orchestral music available. All this is provided by the first-class Brantford Symphony, under the expert direction of its Artistic Director, Philip Sarabura.
