Brantford Symphony Orchestra (“BSO”) is delighted to acknowledge receipt of $9,000 from the Brant Community Foundation to support The Refuge Project.
The Brantford Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the Sanderson Centre on March 21st at 7:30 p.m. with award winning guest artists Sultans of String and Friends, celebrating the coming to Canada of immigrants from around the world.
In addition to an inspiring musical experience, our guest musicians will provide an opportunity for our audience to interact with them during a pre-concert Q & A session and a post-concert reception. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. The pre-concert talk will take place between 6:55 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
We are inviting immigrants to attend this event through various avenues. As a cultural organization we feel it is important to support newcomers to Canada and to help them to feel accepted.
Brantford has had an influx of immigrants moving to the city in recent years. In 2021, 15.5% of the population were immigrants, compared to 12.5% in 2016. Though more recent data is not yet available, our social service partners have indicated that the number has grown substantially in the last 4 years.
We are grateful to the Brant Community Foundation for their generous support in carrying out our project.
